Moroccan Beef Burgers

Moroccan Beef Burgers recipe - Aussie Butcher New Lynn

SERVES 6-8 | 15 MINS PREP | 10 MINS COOK TIME

INGREDIENTS

Beef patties

1kg premium beef mince
½ tsp ground cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 egg
A handful fresh coriander, chopped

Burger

12 brioche buns
Lettuce
Red capsicum, sliced
Button mushrooms, sliced
Feta cheese
Basil pesto

METHOD

To prepare the patties, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix for a good 3-4 minutes or until everything is combined and the mixture starts to stick.

Roll into balls roughly 80g in weight then press down flat with the palm of your hand to make a nice patty shape. Ensure your patties are bigger than the diameter of your buns as they will shrink quite a bit during cooking.

Grill over a wood or coal fire on a high temperature for roughly 3 mins per side for extra added smoky flavour.

Alternatively, heat a skillet or BBQ grill to medium high heat and place patties on grill and cook for roughly 4-5 minutes per side. Be careful not to overcook the patties or they will dry out, they should only just be cooked through. To be absolutely sure use a meat thermometer; when the internal temperature reaches 75°C, they are ready.

While the patties are cooking, toast your buns under a grill until lightly golden brown, then set aside.

Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing the beef burger patties on the toasted bottom bun and topping with lettuce, feta cheese, pesto, capsicums and mushrooms or your choice of favourite fillings.
