We're Partnering with Fair Food

We’re excited to share some news close to our hearts, we are now a partner, and I’m an ambassador for Fair Food.  This incredible Auckland charity is passionate about feeding people, not landfill, and their work is making a real difference in our local community.

Every day, the Fair Food team and their volunteers rescue more than two tonnes of surplus fresh food and redistribute it to those who need it most. Last year alone, their emergency service supplied enough groceries for more than 1.7 million meals while also reducing climate emissions by 1,587 tonnes. That’s an amazing impact, both for people and for the planet.

Why Fair Food?
Katie and I decided to partner with Fair Food because we believe in their purpose: they are the charity behind the charities. By equipping community groups with fresh, nutritious food, they allow those groups to focus on supporting people with other essential needs.

How it works
It’s a simple solution to two big issues: climate change and food insecurity. Fair Food’s trucks collect surplus food from supermarkets and food producers and deliver it straight to community groups like domestic violence shelters, transitional housing, schools, food banks, young mums’ groups and many more. This keeps good food out of landfill, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while at the same time filling fridges and feeding families across Auckland.

The hunger problem
Hunger is often invisible, but it’s happening all around us. One in four Kiwi kids go to bed hungry. A third of Kiwis have less than $500 in savings, which means when unexpected costs come up, food is the first thing to be cut back. At the same time, New Zealand produces enough food to feed 40 million people, yet a third of it goes to waste.

That’s why this partnership means so much to us. By supporting Fair Food, we’re helping to create a brighter, healthier and more sustainable future for families in West Auckland. If you’d like to help out directly, you can make a donation, volunteer or donate excess produce from your garden.
