Sticky Honey Pork Steaks
SERVES 4 | 20 MINS PREP + MARINATING | 20 MINS COOK TIME
INGREDIENTS
4 x New Zealand pork leg or rump steaks
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp light soy sauce
Mashed potato
- 8 medium potatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- 50g butter
- 1/2 c milk
- 3 Tbsp finely chopped chives
- Salt
- White pepper
Corn salad
- 2 corn cobs
- 2 cups baby spinach or wild rocket
- 50g cherries, halved and pitted
- 1/4 red onion
- 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
- Olive oil
METHOD
Marinate the steaks in the honey, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce for at least 2 hours.
Heat a grill skillet and coat with oil. Transfer the steaks to the hot skillet, reserving the leftover marinade for later. Cook the steaks on one side for 6 mins, then on the other side for 2 mins. Remove from the heat and rest for 2 mins before serving or cutting.
If using an air fryer, preheat to 200°C. Cook for 12 mins, flipping after 6 mins. Rest for 2 mins before serving.
Heat the remaining marinade and add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce to make it into a sauce. Drizzle pork steaks with sauce.
Mashed potatoes: in a large saucepan of salted boiling water, cook the potatoes and garlic until soft. Drain and mash with butter and milk. Mix in the chives and season with salt and pepper.
Corn salad: in a large saucepan of salted boiling water, cook the corn for around 6-7 mins. Drain. Leave to cool before cutting off the corn kernels from the cob. Toss with the rest of the salad ingredients.
