TWO GOLDS & A SILVER!

The Great New Zealand Sausage Competition sees Kiwi butchers battle it out to see who’ll snag the win. This premier event for smallgoods producers has one tasty mission: to discover the best sausage in New Zealand. Each year it draws hundreds of entries, sparks media buzz and captures the hearts and appetites of the public. 

This year, the competition broke all previous records with an incredible 646 entries, representing the craftsmanship of 116 producers across 14 categories. The first round of judging stretched across six days, with 17 judging panels made up of one technical and two aesthetic experts. Every sausage was carefully scored on their technical composition, aroma, appearance, texture and, most importantly, taste!

The celebrations culminated in the Sausage Mixer Awards presentation, held at Auckland’s Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen on Tuesday 17 October. Nearly 300 people, including medallists, sponsors and industry personnel, gathered for a night of recognition, flavour and camaraderie. Guests were treated to a tasting of some of the winning sausages before the Supreme and People’s Choice Awards were revealed.

And what a night it was for our team! We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Reuben’s Sausages clinched two Elite Gold medals and a Silver at this year’s competition.
