Meet the new President of RMNZ
At this year’s Butcher’s Summit in New Plymouth, Reuben was elected President of Retail Meat New Zealand’s (RMNZ) Board. This is an incredible honour that recognises both his contribution to the industry and his passion for supporting New Zealand butchers.
RMNZ is a membership-based organisation that represents and promotes the interests of the retail meat sector, from independent butchers and supermarkets to small-goods manufacturers, wholesalers and affiliated businesses. Their mission is to share knowledge, provide support and fuel innovation within the industry.
As President, Reuben will play a key role in shaping the direction of RMNZ, ensuring the organisation continues to deliver value to its members. From advocating for the interests of local butchers to supporting industry training and development, his leadership will help strengthen the profession and ensure it thrives in an ever-changing food landscape.
This new appointment builds on Reuben’s long list of achievements in butchery. He been selected for the Hellers Sharp Blacks, New Zealand’s national butchery team competing at the “Olympics of Butchery”, the World Butchers’ Challenge. He’s also created award-winning products that have taken out top honours in the Great New Zealand Sausage Competition and the 100% New Zealand Bacon & Ham Awards. Each of these accolades highlights his skill, creativity and dedication to raising the bar in his craft.
Looking ahead, Reuben is excited to bring his experience and fresh ideas to RMNZ. With a strong focus on innovation, training and community, his leadership will support butchers nationwide, ensuring the craft not only survives but thrives.
